There are certain things we use daily that have traces of alcohol. We bet you don’t know about it.
1. Vanilla extract
There is a reason why we put only few drops of vanilla extract in desserts. Did you know that in some vanilla extracts, the alcohol level is similar to that found in vodka and gin? It has high ABV and is very alcoholic.
2. Hand sanitisers
Hand sanitisers, which contain alcohol, are more effective at killing micro-organisms than soaps. The level of alcohol in hand sanitisers varies between 60% and 85%. There are also alcohol free sanitisers, but they are not as effective as the alcohol based ones.
3. Cough syrup
Cough syrups normally contain 10 to 40 percent of alcohol. It is therefore advised to take the dosage according to doctor’s advice.
The mouthwash which you use every morning has high alcohol content. It contains 30% alcohol and can get you drunk if you actually gulp it.
5. Windshield wiper fluid
The fluid which is used to wipe the car windshield contains alcohol and is poisonous if consumed.
6. Perfumes and colognes
All perfumes and colognes have 50-90% of alcohol. Use these with caution as they can be poisonous if consumed.
7. Protein bars
It has sugar alcohol, which is different from the regular alcohol. Sugar alcohols are a type of reduced-calorie sweetener, and are also generally found in ice-creams and cookies.
